Dragon Rush Hits 5 Million Riders as Gardaland Celebrates Roller Coaster Day

Dragon Rush at Gardaland has reached 5 million passengers, ahead of Sunday, August 16, when the park marks Roller Coaster Day, the international celebration of roller coasters. The attraction, opened in 2016 and previously known as Kung Fu Panda Master, has also logged more than 266,000 kilometers of track, a distance equivalent to nearly seven trips around the Earth.

Dragon Rush is Gardaland Resort’s only Family Spinning Wild Mouse, featuring cars that rotate freely along a roughly 400-meter route, making each ride different. Park Operations Director Alessandra Zanoni linked the milestone to the “safe thrill” concept—delivering intense emotions within a controlled, designed experience—aimed at a wide range of visitors, from children with parents to thrill-seekers.

Roller Coaster Day also highlights Gardaland’s coaster history, which includes eight roller coasters and 14 inversions. Notable milestones cited include Shaman (1985), Ortobruco Tour, Blue Tornado (1998) as Italy’s first inverted coaster, Fuga da Atlantide (Super Splash, 2003), Mammut (2008, still the park’s longest coaster over one kilometer), Raptor (2011, Italy’s only wing coaster at opening), and Oblivion – The Black Hole (2015, Italy’s first dive coaster and the park’s highest at 42.5 meters).
