A new episode of scams targeting the elderly has occurred in Lonato, where two alleged fake nurses deceived an 86-year-old woman. The scammers visited her home, claiming that her granddaughter was hospitalized in serious condition at the Desenzano hospital. Using detailed information about the family, they tricked the elderly woman into speaking on the phone with a third person posing as her granddaughter, who desperately requested help for an urgent operation.
Believing in the severity of the situation, the elderly woman handed over more than 500 euros in cash and valuable jewelry, including her wedding ring. After the two women fled, she only discovered she had been scammed when she contacted her relatives. The incident was reported to the carabinieri on November 29, 2024.
