A new scam alert has been issued in Italy, where deceptive emails impersonating official communications from the Ministry of Health have been reported. These messages, linked to a phishing attack, promise financial refunds to citizens, prompting them to provide personal information. The Ministry has warned users not to click on any links contained in the emails and not to respond to the messages, emphasizing that this is a cyber fraud attempt. Relevant authorities, including the Carabinieri of the NAS and the Postal Police, have already been informed and are investigating the matter.
The fraudulent communication mentions the possibility of requesting a refund of €234.40 for an alleged “overpayment related to two months of the National Health Service.” The Ministry urges all citizens to exercise maximum caution and to immediately delete any suspicious messages received.
