Enogastronomic Festival of Coregone and Lake Fish in Moniga Starts
The eighteenth edition of the “Enogastronomic Festival of Coregone and Lake Fish, Chiaretto, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Valtenesi has started last Friday in Moniga, organized, as always, by the Club Pesce di Lago under the auspices of the Accademia Brescia a tavola.
An initiative aimed at promoting the typical products of our lake, starting with the famous coregone, which the festival—set to conclude on April 8th—is a true local celebration.
For nearly two months, restaurants and venues in the area will offer special menus based on lake fish and chiaretto wine. This year, there are multiple reasons to celebrate, primarily the increased fish population in Garda, thanks to the effectiveness of the repopulation program via artificial fertilization carried out at the hatchery in Peschiera (awaiting the new facility to be built in Desenzano).
Each year, this program allows the release into Garda waters of tens of millions of coregone (and eels) fry, as well as 15,000 carpione fry.
