Enrico Berlinguer at the Lake Garda History Festival in Salò

The Lake Garda History Festival will take place in Salò on Saturday, July 19 at 8:30 PM, featuring a discussion dedicated to Enrico Berlinguer, a prominent figure of the Italian left in the 20th century. Historian Silvio Pons will lead the audience in a thorough analysis of Berlinguer’s political and historical life, who served as the secretary of the Italian Communist Party from 1972 until his death in 1984. The event will be held in the Sala dei Provveditori of the town hall, with free admission, providing an opportunity to reflect on a political era that continues to influence the present.

This is the third edition of the festival, organized by the Centro Studi Rsi of Salò and chaired by Professor Roberto Chiarini. This year’s theme is “The 20th Century and Beyond,” featuring five evenings dedicated to important historical figures from Italy. Among the upcoming events, journalist Fabio Martini will discuss Bettino Craxi on Sunday, July 20, and historian Marco Follini will speak about Alcide De Gasperi on Friday, August 1. The events will also be streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Centro Studi Rsi.
