A highly significant conference took place in Salò from October 3 to 5, gathering approximately 100 plastic surgeons from 25 countries to discuss crucial issues related to plastic surgery and the ethics of aesthetic surgery. During the 21st edition of the BBF, the professionals issued a strong and clear call: it is essential that ethics take precedence over aesthetics, particularly in a context where the market for treatments is not always regulated and is often carried out by unqualified practitioners. A ten-point guideline was presented to ensure greater awareness among patients, emphasizing the need for proper information and medical training. The phenomenon of aesthetic surgery in Italy is rapidly growing, with a significant increase in procedures recorded in 2024. Dr. Chiara Botti, one of the event’s promoters and a lecturer in plastic surgery, highlighted that each year, part of the work is dedicated to correcting mistakes caused by unprofessional practices. The conference also included practical demonstrations of live surgery, focusing on advanced techniques such as facelifts and blepharoplasty, drawing attention to increasingly requested yet complex procedures.
