Rudi Amati and Mauro Lazzarini have successfully completed the challenge of Everesting 8,848, an endeavor that saw them ascend the Pizzocolo eight times in approximately 27 hours, accumulating a total elevation gain of 8,848 meters, equivalent to the height of Everest. The two runners, aged 54 and 50, respectively, began their journey on Thursday, May 1st, at 8 AM from the gym in Barbarano and tackled the route leading them to the summit of the mountain, despite the challenges posed by the scorching heat.
The challenge concluded on Friday morning around 11 AM, with the two athletes visibly fatigued but satisfied with their achievement. Amati noted that the repetition of the course severely tested their mental endurance, while Lazzarini described the experience as a wonderful adventure. Both expressed gratitude towards GS Montegargnano and the friends who supported them throughout the journey.
