Starting from Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Scaliger Castle in Sirmione will offer special openings on the afternoons of holidays, thanks to a collaboration between the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Lombardy and GetYourGuide, a leading platform for booking tourist experiences. This initiative aims to expand access to one of the most emblematic monuments of cultural tourism in Lombardy, allowing visitors to explore this important historical site during additional hours. The special openings are part of a broader project aimed at enhancing cultural heritage, with the goal of promoting sustainable and accessible tourism.
The regional director of museums, Rosario Anzalone, expressed satisfaction with this opportunity, emphasizing how the Castle represents a significant testament to medieval military architecture. The fortress, built in the 13th century by the Della Scala family, is considered one of the best-preserved castles in Italy. The openings will be advertised through the official channels of the Regional Directorate and GetYourGuide until December 2025, thereby strengthening the synergy between cultural institutions and tourism operators to further enhance Lombardy’s heritage.
