Fai Organizes Guided Visits for Archaeological Sites in Padenghe, Garda
Also the Riviera del Garda will host the “Spring Day” organized across Italy by Fai: the Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (Italian National Trust).
The Gardesan delegation of the organization, led by Walter Romagnoli, is organizing guided visits for tomorrow and Sunday to three archaeological sites in Padenghe: the Roman villa, the Sant’Emiliano small church, and the medieval castle.
Fai, as a reminder, has long promoted to institutions a project to establish an archaeological park encompassing all three sites: they are culturally homogeneous, physically close, and situated in an area with strong potential for cultural tourism.
Supporters and Participants
In this direction, the organization has gained the support of the parish, the Municipality, the Province, and the Region.
Obviously, all of this is subject to the favorable opinion of the Superintendencies.
Nevertheless, as mentioned, guided visits will be available tomorrow and Sunday, with students from the middle school of Padenghe and young members of Rotaract from Salò and Desenzano acting as guides, who have spontaneously offered their assistance.
Events and Collaborations
On Sunday afternoon, starting from 3 p.m., celebratory events will take place at the Sant’Emiliano church and on the square. The young participants, dressed in period costumes, will perform songs and music.
Regarding the archaeological park project, personalities from the scientific community, such as Professor Quaglia, have already committed to collaborate. He has prepared a model of the ancient small church, illustrating not only the restoration and recovery of some 16th-century frescoes, but also plans to create a small thematic museum, a library focused on ecclesiastical topics, and several meditation rooms.
