Fake Carabinieri Scam Targets Garda Businesses in Deceptive Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
