Fake Carabinieri Scammers Targeting Garda Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not real military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police force.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer shows themselves.
