Fake Carabinieri Scams Target Garda Hoteliers and Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, general police, fire brigade, or the Municipality guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
