Fake Carabinieri Scams Target Hoteliers and Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

These are not members of the military, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, or the fire brigade, or to the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
