Fake Carabinieri Scams Targeting Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
