Fake Carabinieri Scams Targeting Businesses in Garda Region

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have become a target of someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
