A tragedy struck Gargnano when a 43-year-old Polish cyclist lost his life in an accident while out with friends along the Gardesana, north of the town. During a stop in a tunnel entrance, the man accidentally fell into the void, plummeting approximately 100 meters toward the lake. Despite the immediate intervention of the Alpine Rescue, firefighters, and air rescue services, attempts to save him were in vain.
The cyclist’s body was recovered by the Coast Guard with the assistance of a patrol boat. The exact circumstances that led to the accident are now under investigation by the relevant authorities, while the local community remains shaken by this tragic loss.
