Festa dei Fiori in Castellaro Lagusello Highlights Local Plant Decor and Exhibitions

Organized by the Associazione culturale «Amici di Lagusello» with the patronage of the Comunità del Garda and the Provinces of Brescia, Mantova, and Verona, the “Festa dei fiori” (Festival of Flowers) is scheduled to take place in the village of Castellaro Lagusello. It has historically attracted thousands of visitors, particularly from Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna.

Now in its ninth edition, the event begins on Sunday, April 23rd, and will last about ten days. The festival’s uniqueness in this picturesque Mantuan locality near Pozzolengo, which borders our province, lies not only in the stalls scattered throughout the historic center offering items related to flowers – from antique prints to ceramics, honey to glassware, books to herbariums, bonsai to essential oils – but mainly in the town’s decoration with plants, shrubs, and flowers. This follows a project that aims to enhance every corner of the town, with a valuable contribution from a local nursery company.

Already on Sunday, April 23rd, the parish hall will host the exhibition ” The World of Butterflies“, a research project by the Brescia lepidopterist Giovanni Sala. The exhibition features three itineraries: a general educational tour about butterflies, a second more technical route with display cases containing butterflies from the Garda area, and a third illustrative of diurnal and nocturnal butterfly families from various geographic regions.

May 1st Events and April 25th Concert

On Monday, May 1st, starting at 9:30 AM, an important roundtable titled ” Cultural Heritage Routes in the Garda Area” will be held, with participation from representatives of the Provinces of Mantova, Brescia, Verona, the president of the Comunità del Garda Adelio Zanelli, and scholars from the Brescian area.

This initiative has been scheduled with the patronage of the Regione Lombardia, in cooperation with the Federazione delle associazioni gardesane cultura e ambiente. In the afternoon of April 25th, in the recently restored courtyard «Uccellanda», the musical group «La Rossignol» will perform a concert: dressed in Renaissance costumes and using very curious period instruments (flutes, bombards, rebecs, hurdy-gurdies, lutes, percussion), they will create atmospheres reminiscent of ancient courtly and popular festivals through an original repertoire of music.
