Fiera di Lonato Celebrates Tradition and Success in 43rd Edition

“It exceeded our expectations”. This is the comment from the mayor and president of the Fiera di Lonato Committee, Morando Perini, at the end of the 43rd edition of the event. Last night, in the Celesti hall, a conference was held on the evolution of agriculture over the past centuries, and tomorrow will be another celebration. The patron saint’s feast, Saint Anthony the Great, will be celebrated with the traditional blessing of animals: at 4 p.m. in front of the small church dedicated to the saint.

Festival and Traditions of the Day

Dogs, cats, birds, farm animals, and then horses, donkeys, piglets, and more: all present to receive the blessing from the parish priest. Later, around 5 p.m., under the porticoes of the Town Hall, another traditional appointment: the awarding of the local specialty sweet, the chisöl. Finally, at 8:30 p.m., the prize for the best shop window and the large chestnut feast in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, all washed down with good local wine.

Meanwhile, as we mentioned, this edition of the Fair has also been archived, recording a success beyond even the most optimistic expectations.
