Fire and First Aid Safety Courses for Nago and Torbole Elementary Students

A fire safety and first aid course for elementary school students in Nago and Torbole

A fire safety and first aid course for fourth and fifth grade students at the elementary schools of Nago and Torbole. As has become customary over the years, it is organized by the volunteer firefighters, under the guidance of Deputy Commander Donatello Montagni. Preparations are already underway, starting this April.

There are, after all, various specialists’ interventions to coordinate. The courses aim to teach fire prevention basics, and firefighters will directly instruct the students on how to behave in case of emergencies.

The course activities and teaching methods

Next is first aid, which will be taught by volunteers from the Croce Rossa Basso Sarca. These lessons are equally important, especially regarding initial interventions in case of unfortunate domestic accidents.

Given the proximity to the lake, some lessons on water safety could not be missed. For these, the extensive experience of FIPS instructor Aldo Tavernini will be especially useful.

Of course, the theoretical parts of the courses will all take place at the new headquarters of the fire brigade. At the end, there will also be a practical demonstration at the Pavese park, undoubtedly the most awaited activity by the children.

Practical demonstration and final activity

This will give the children the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned. They will also be able to use firefighting equipment, and, on the occasion, observe rescue dogs from the Verona-based Gruppo cinofili Ana in action.
