Fire Brigade Battles Forest Fire in Ronchi Valley Amid Drought
The prolonged drought that has lasted since Christmas, now two months, is beginning to cause serious problems even for fires.
Yesterday afternoon, the fire brigade had to work hard to extinguish the flames that destroyed five hectares of forest in the area between Muravalle and Ronchi, in the Ronchi Valley in the municipality of Ala.
An Italian Fire Brigade helicopter also assisted the fifty men involved in the operation, dropping water on the flames.
Interventions and containment of the fire
The fire was contained and extinguished thanks to the efforts of volunteers from the Vigili di Ala, Rovereto, Mori, Avio, Calliano, Nogaredo, Isera, Pomarolo, Bessenello, and Villa Lagarina units.
In summary, all the local units were involved against the fire that ravaged the forests of the Ronchi valley.
After working all afternoon to combat the flames, some volunteers remained in the area to continue the cleanup.
Area characteristics and precautions
The area where the fire broke out yesterday has been affected in the past.
Due to the long period of drought, the forest is extremely vulnerable.
Therefore, caution is advised regarding cigarette butts.
