Pozzolengo: Fire at the nursing home, awaiting assessment for potential uninhabitability Yesterday, Tuesday, May 13, a fire broke out on the upper floor of Villa Albertini in Pozzolengo, forcing the evacuation of 27 residents from the nursing home. The alarm was raised shortly before 7 a.m., when some craftsmen noticed smoke coming from the roof and immediately alerted the emergency services and the mayor. Fortunately, the swift response of seven fire crews from Brescia and Mantova was able to extinguish the flames without causing any injuries or smoke inhalation among the elderly residents.
After the evacuation, the residents were safely relocated to Colombare di Sirmione and Peschiera, where they spent several hours at the Social Resource Center while awaiting a permanent arrangement. Authorities are now waiting for the fire department’s report to assess the building’s safety; it is certain that the floor affected by the fire will be sealed off to allow for the necessary technical inspections.
