The regatta season has officially begun with the Veliche Days, a historic event organized by the Fraglia Vela Desenzano, which took place last weekend. Now in its 63rd edition, the regatta saw the participation of 35 boats divided into various classes, including 420, Fireball, and ILCA/Laser. Despite adverse weather conditions, the Race Committee, led by Raffaele Valsecchi and a team of experts, managed to complete five races over the weekend. Saturday presented intense challenges with rain and strong winds, while Sunday saw an improvement in weather conditions that allowed for the completion of two additional races.
The rankings rewarded several crews: in the 420 class, Emanuele Collia and Gianmaria Biason from Fraglia Vela Desenzano triumphed, followed by their teammates Vittoria Romani and Elena Loda. Among the RSFeva, Giacomo Bonzio and Frank Walker Jones from Circolo Vela Gargnano emerged victorious. The winners in the Fireball category were Luca Stefanini and Stefano Borzani from Fraglia Vela Desenzano, while Alberto Bonatti from LNI Brescia dominated the D-One class. Finally, Marco Franchi secured a spot on the podium in the ILCA/Laser class for Fraglia Vela Desenzano. The next event for sailing enthusiasts in Desenzano will be the 58th Trofeo Tridentina, scheduled for the following weekend.
