Fraud Alert: Carabinieri Scam Targets Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would seek money, but then disappears.
