Fraudsters Impersonate Authorities to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Municipal authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
