Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda-area Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s civil protection.

Recognizing the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
