Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Phone Scam Alert

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigades, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear and do not show up again.
