Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.
These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to respond
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
So beware and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
