Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
