Fraudsters impersonate Carabinieri to scam Garda businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but no longer shows themselves.
