Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
