Fraudsters Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region Scams

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they were after money, will no longer show themselves.
