Fraudsters Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the arm.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
