Fraudsters Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
