Fraudsters posing as Carabinieri target Garda region businesses with fake calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal police authorities.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
