Fraudulent Calls Impersonate Carabinieri to Scam Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those having nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspicion you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

lacking money, disappear without a trace.
