Fraudulent Calls Impersonating Carabinieri in Garda Area: How to Identify and Respond

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire department, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize the scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have no connection to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, tend to disappear without further contact.
