Regione Lombardia has announced a significant funding initiative for **volunteer firefighters**, with a total of 2 million euros allocated for the 2024-2025 biennium. This initiative aims to support non-profit organizations (Onlus), social promotion associations (Aps), and volunteer organizations (Odv) operating in this sector.
## Funded Projects in Brescia
Floriano Massardi, a regional councilor from the League and president of the ‘Agriculture, Mountain, and Forests’ Commission, commented on this important achievement. “All 55 projects submitted for the call for proposals have been funded, including the 18 projects from the province of Brescia, totaling 603,650 euros,” Massardi stated. These funds represent a crucial resource for enhancing the operational capacity of volunteer detachments.
## Objectives of the Funding
The allocated resources will be used to purchase new vehicles, technical equipment, and necessary structural interventions to strengthen personnel training. “These funds will help increase emergency response capabilities and implement preventive actions,” Massardi added, emphasizing the importance of supporting safety in local communities.
The funding is viewed as a positive signal from the Fontana administration and the Department of Security, highlighting the ongoing commitment to safeguarding communities and recognizing the value of volunteer work.
