Desenzano Dog Shelter: Fundraising for “A Breath of Fresh Air” The Compagni di Strada Association has launched a fundraising campaign to install nine ceiling fans in the shelter, aiming to enhance the comfort of the animals during the summer months. Following the success of a previous initiative that led to the purchase of insulated dog beds, the volunteers, who have been active since 2002 in managing the Intermunicipal Dog Shelter of Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione, and Montichiari, have decided to tackle the issue of excessive heat affecting their four-legged residents. Currently, the shelter houses around 70 dogs from difficult situations, and the internal temperature often exceeds 35°C.
To ensure a cooler environment and prevent overheating risks, the installation of fans is crucial since animals cannot sweat like humans do. The campaign has already raised nearly half of the necessary funds, but it operates on an “all or nothing” model, meaning that if the total amount is not reached, donations will be refunded. The fundraising effort is supported by BCC del Garda through the Idea Ginger platform. Every small contribution can make a difference in improving the conditions for the animals at the Desenzano Dog Shelter.
