A symbolic march will take place on Saturday, June 7th, to raise awareness among the public and authorities about the environmental issues affecting Lake Garda. The initiative, titled “For a Living and Livable Garda,” will see the participation of various associations, including WWF, Legambiente, and Italia Nostra, starting from the municipalities of Costermano sul Garda and Garda. Participants will gather at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM respectively to head towards the Rocca del Garda, where they are expected to arrive around 11:30 AM. The event aims to draw attention to the sustainability of the lake, promoting concrete actions against concrete development, overtourism, and pollution.
The goal of the demonstration is to unite citizens, administrators, and activists in the call for the protection of the lakeside environment. The involved associations emphasize the urgency of addressing the anthropogenic pressures that threaten the lake’s ecosystem, highlighting the need for more balanced development that safeguards both people and the environment. During the march, specific demands will be put forward, such as halting land consumption and implementing sustainable water resource management, thereby underscoring the importance of environmental protection to ensure a better future for the Lake Garda area.
