Garda Area Scam Alert: Beware Fake Carabinieri Phone Calls

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

This is not about military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately alert the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
