Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Callers Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Carabinieri Corps.

They are not real military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or local police.

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by those who,
