Garda Area Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls for Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to police magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune‘s municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
