Garda Area Scam: Fake Carabinieri Offer Unrelated Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
