Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be associated with the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, if they have received money, will no longer appear.
