Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking your money, disappears.
