Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police force, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

who have money, no longer show themselves.
