Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These individuals are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
