Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Retailers and Hoteliers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

who seek money, disappear without a trace.
