Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police in Phone Fraud Schemes

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, cease to appear.
