Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subs

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the real carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
